Since the beginning of this year, Richter
Maschinenfabrik AG has been machining beds for the "Jumbo" of the
machine series, for one of the most noteworthy milling machine
manufacturers in Germany. The 40,500 kg bed, made of cast
EN-GJS-600-7, with dimensions of 6,960 x 4,050 x 1648 mm, places
the highest demands with regard to precision, where straightness
and flatness are concerned.
The maximum deviations permitted are in the order
of a magnitude of 0.01 mm. For the guide rail bearing surfaces, a
concave curve with a depth of 1/100 is to be milled over a 5.4 m
long section - this is without doubt the greatest
challenge!
Although precision is, of course, a prerequisite, reliable and
clear documentation is also a fundamental criterion of the supplied
quality! The autocollimator used to measure the straightness of the
X and Y profiles in the my range is directly connected to a PC with
measurement and evaluation software. This allows us to produce top
quality documentation with measuring records and diagrams for each
inspected workpiece, ensuring that all preset tolerances can be
observed.
