Once again our factory in  Hessisch Lichtenau has accepted a special challenge. Having already successfully taken the first large step towards the real "heavyweights" in style in 2005 with the top and bottom section of an open die pipe press with approx. 200 t piece weights, we have now ventured onto a new performance level with 250 t, again for the main modules of an open die pipe press.

With this we have created a real top starting position for ourselves in the growth market segment of energy production. The heavyweights which, after around one year's construction time in our factory, have now been transported for loading onto pontoon boats (barges) in Hann. Münden are intended for a pressing plant in the Urals in Russia. Here 12.4 m long pipes with a diameter of 1.42 m and a wall thickness of up to 48 mm are to be produced for a pipeline in which natural gas from Siberia will flow to Western Europe.

The signalled demand for pipeline pipes for the coming years is not only livening up the steel markets but is also releasing growth potential for the heavy machinery engineering companies involved in the semi-finished product and pipe production to a previously unknown extent.

The next job for this type of modules with delivery in the 3rd quarter 2008 is already in house.

The only thing that could have braked us and stopped us from consistently staying on our chosen strategic course is the problem of transporting such heavy workpieces. But even here alternative transport has been found by which even these extraordinary heavyweights can travel and thereby securing future work: the waterway from Hann. Münden. It was this which enabled us to accept this order placed for 2008.
